PEGASUS LEGAL

News filtering in now has it that some ladies have been arrested by the Nigerian Bar Association, Sagamu Branch, for engaging in Notary public jobs within Ogun State during the JUSUN strike that crippled judicial activities in the State.

Our source got wind of this development through the Branch Publicity Secretary, Mr. Amos Sati when he reported thus on the group Whatsapp page. See the post below:

Good evening learned seniors and colleagues!

In other to curb touting and other kangaroo practices in the legal profession, especially in Sagamu, the NBA, Sagamu Branch Executives had apprehended a couple of ladies who indulged or had been indulging, within the interim of the Jusun strike, in notorizing and commissioning documents for the general public. The suspects claimed to have been sent by their boss who, they claimed, is a Notary Public practicing in Lagos. The said lawyer is yet to report at the station for interrogation as at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, the apprehended suspects are currently at the Sagamu police station for further investigation and subsequent prosecution next week if found culpable.

In view of the above, while we urge our members to remain calm and report any suspecting unethical activities that can bring our noble profession to disrepute, we assure you of our prompt response to your complaints.

Publicity Secretary.

Indeed, the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Sagamu Branch, Honourable, Olufemi Adeniyi Esq and his team of Excos have been breaking new grounds on how to take legal practice to a new height, particularly in the Sagamu Branch of the Association, as we now boast of new NBA secretariat, the first of its kind here cum this attack on quackery and other unethical practices that have been attempting to dent the image of the noble profession.

We urge this team not to relent on its drive to cleanse the muds that have been casted on the once revered most noble profession on earth. They should equally beam their search light on some supposed professional colleagues who often appear less than their calling.

We shall be eternally grateful if anything is done to bring S. A. Fadehun Esq (fake lawyer), residing in Iperu then. He has been at large since last year, having failed to establish his profile as a lawyer ; although he has been appearing in various courts within Sagamu and environs. Him and his ilks should be brought to book, to serve as deterrence to others.  Some useful information could be obtained from my  learned senior Mr. Ayodele and my learned colleague Mr. Temitope Ayodele whom he has worked with their various offices in the past.
