Sequel to the ongoing strike by the Judicial Union Staff Association of Nigeria (JUSUN) with its planed peaceful protest, slated at state capitals across the country, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) through its National Executive Council, passed a resolution to join the striking body in solidarity protest tomorrow.
This led to the circular issued and circulated on Friday, urging all the NBA Branches Nation wide to join the striking body in the peaceful protest to press home their demand for an independent judiciary.
The NBA Branches in Anambra State is the first state to unanimously approve the request of the NBA president for lawyers to support the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria.
Not too long ago, the Chairman of Nigerian Bar Association, Sagamu Branch, Mr. Felix Adetoro has directed all lawyers within the branch to join other NBA Branches within the state at the Judicial complex, Kobape, Abeokuta, in compliance with the NBA’s President directive on the slated peaceful protest tomorrow.
Some members are asking the branch chairman of the logistics, conveying the members to the protest point ; and what would be our response, in case the Government is averse to the slated peaceful protest?
The Chairman in response to the above concern, said that he beseech members who are going with their vehicles to lift others at the take off point, magistrate court, Sagamu by 10:am. He equally allayed the fears of Government negative response to the proposed peaceful protest, as he said that the body had been in touch with the A. G of the State.
