The Colonial Masters, Jakande & Co Developed Lagos, not Tinubu, Ayekooto , writes
That anyone educated compares Lagos to Anambra or any state at all in Nigeria shows that you are brain dead and your education is useless. Your certificates should seized and your teachers should be flogged. The Portuguese came into Lagos in 1472, that is over 600yrs ago.
When you look at the volume of trade and development that came to Benin through the arrival of Portuguese, you can only Imagine how Lagos which is coastal would have benefitted. Considering that Benin was in the hinterland. If not for Invasion of the British Benin…
If not for the invasion of the British of the Benin empire, few places in Nigeria will ever measure up to Benin which was in the Hinterland, now imagine what Lagos State enjoyed in terms of development over 600 years ago, so how did @officialABAT build or make Lagos State?
Even as a frontier state of the Benin empire and power in 1600s, Lagos enjoyed tremendous development because it was always very important to trade trading between the Europeans and those in the hinterland, so how did one man suddenly take the glory of building Lagos?
As early as 1914, when Nigeria became a protectorate, Lagos was always the capital. Now try to imagine the level of development that the state would have enjoyed from that time till now. How long has Abuja been the capital, can you compare it with any other state in Nigeria?
Lagos was Federal capital territory until 1991. That is Lagos was capital of Nigeria for 77yrs. So how is it possible that your brain works and you will say that one man called @officialABAT built Lagos, a coastal trading unit for over 600yrs & Federal capital territory of 77yrs?
Should we talk about the transatlantic trade, the boom period of trade with America? Should we talk about the British influence and how the development of Lagos infrastructure was Paramount to the Europeans because they wanted to live in comfort since Lagos was their base?
Let us even forget the influence of 600yrs of international trade and development that comes with being FCT. There records that show that in terms of construction, Jakande is not @officialABAT mate at all. These numbers are in the next tweet.
80’s (Jakande Estates) 14,972 (low income)
90’s (milads) 1,784 (medium income)
476 (duplexes)
2,567 (various estates)
Total=4,827
99-07 (BAT) 1,929
07-15 (BRF) 687.
From findings, it even seems Marwa was ahead of @officialABAT
