As the 2023 general election draws near, a group under the aegis of Middle Belt Youth Development Organisation has vowed to mobilise its seven million members to vote for the Labour party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.Speaking during a press conference in Lafia on Sunday, the President of the group, Christopher Aba, said they were supporting the Peter Obi/Yusuf Datti ticket because they believe that the duo have the capacity to address the challenges confronting the nation. He narrated that the group with members across 15 states of the country, had concluded plans to embark on a solidarity rally to sensitise the electorates on the need to vote for the LP’s presidential candidate in 2023.He mentioned the 15 states including Plateau, Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi, Niger, Adamawa, Federal Capital Territory, among others.

He said, “The Middle Belt Youth Development Organization is not a political group and we do not engage in partisan politics. We are a Non-governmental organization, and our aim is to work for the progress of Nigeria. But we all know that our leaders have failed us. Every election year, they tell lies and make fake promises to us.“It is as a result of the many challenges confronting the nation at the moment that the executives of the organization held a meeting on October 1, 2022, and we decided to mobilise our seven million members to support and vote for Mr. Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti in 2023.“We decided to support them because based on their antecedents, we understand that they are not corrupt, we also know that they have great leadership qualities which would take Nigeria to greater heights if they are voted into office in the forthcoming election.”While commending leaders of the Labour party across the nation for their efforts towards ensuring that Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti emerge victorious in 2023, Aba scolded the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, for keeping students out of school for over seven months.“I must commend the leadership of the Labour party for its efforts so far. They are really doing well to make Nigerians understand why they should vote credible leaders into office in 2023. However, I am sad that the federal government and ASUU have kept our students at home for over seven months and nothing is being done about the situation,” Christopher Aba added.Meanwhile, a group, Diaspora Strong for Peter Obi has taken a medical outreach to the grassroots in a bid to woo as many voters as possible for the LP candidate.
